AIDS Community Services provides emergency rental, emergency utility, and subsidized housing assistance to persons living with HIV/AIDS throughout the eight counties of Western New York. Current funds are provided by the New York State Department of Health’s AIDS Institute, U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), and Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS (HOPWA) section of HUD. The Housing Assistance Program is able to assist hundreds of individuals and families secure decent housing as they deal with the many challenges of the illness.
Specific services include Housing placement assistance, Rental Subsidy assistance, Short-term emergency assistance and utility assistance for individuals and families living with HIV/AIDS. Professional staff assist families and individuals in locating and securing safe and appropriate housing, including regular apartment inspection and working with families and individuals to assure that their housing needs are addressed. All case managed clients are eligible for housing assistance.
